Climate Hazard Diagnostics - Cyclones
This dataset quantifies tropical cyclone intensity, maximum sustained wind speed (m/s), exceedance probability, and asset average annual loss at 0.1° (~11 km) spatial resolution. The dataset has global ocean and coastal coverage for a historical baseline (1980) and the years 2030, 2050, and 2080 under IPCC climate scenarios RCP2.6, RCP4.5, RCP6.0, and RCP8.5.
Frameworks
Use cases
- Physical climate risk screening for TCFD and ISSB S2 disclosure
- Asset-level average annual loss quantification under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5
- Infrastructure site selection using multi-hazard climate diagnostics
- Portfolio stress-testing against 2030, 2050, and 2080 climate scenarios
Who uses this
Insurance underwriters, reinsurers, and corporate risk teams with coastal and maritime assets use this dataset to quantify wind hazard intensity and asset average annual loss across RCP scenarios. Infrastructure project finance teams use it for site feasibility screening and lender due diligence. TCFD and ISSB S2 corporate reporters use it to populate physical risk sections with forward-looking scenario analysis for 2030, 2050, and 2080.
