Biomass Atlas
This dataset quantifies aboveground biomass density (Mg/ha) and forest canopy height (m) at 30 m spatial resolution, with global coverage annually from 2000 onwards. Pixel-level residual uncertainty is provided for each variable (± standard error).
Frameworks
Use cases
- EUDR deforestation due diligence on commodity sourcing parcels
- Carbon stock baselining for voluntary carbon project registration
- Annual biomass monitoring for science-based forest commitments
- GHG inventory reporting with pixel-level uncertainty quantification
Who uses this
Carbon market buyers and investment teams at voluntary carbon credit funds use the Biomass Atlas to benchmark aboveground biomass density across forest project sites globally. The long historical record from 2000 and pixel-level uncertainty help analysts assess project risk, compare competing methodologies, and stress-test carbon credit valuations. Corporate sustainability directors use it when evaluating nature-based offset quality during procurement.
